As a provider of outdoor activities, training, events and community programmes, we take safeguarding seriously and aim to create a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for all participants.
This policy applies to all staff, contractors, volunteers and anyone working on behalf of EDAPT Adventures.

EDAPT Adventures operates safer recruitment practices. All staff and contractors who work directly with children, young people or adults at risk:
Are required to undergo appropriate Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks.
Are assessed as suitable for their role.
Must not be listed on any barred list.
We will not knowingly employ or engage any individual who is barred from working with vulnerable groups.
An adult at risk is someone aged 18 or over who may be unable to protect themselves from harm due to age, illness, disability, mental health issues, or other vulnerability.
Abuse may include (but is not limited to):
Physical abuse
Emotional or psychological abuse
Sexual abuse
Financial or material abuse
Neglect or acts of omission
Discriminatory abuse
All adults have the right to live free from fear, harm and exploitation.
Children and young people have the right to:
Be protected from harm.
Participate in activities in a safe environment.
Be treated with dignity and respect.
Have their welfare placed above all other considerations.
Parental/guardian consent will be obtained where appropriate.
All individuals working with EDAPT Adventures have a responsibility to:
Promote welfare and safety.
Be alert to signs of abuse or neglect.
Report concerns promptly.
Follow safeguarding procedures.
Maintain professional boundaries at all times.
Any suspicion, allegation or disclosure of abuse must be taken seriously and reported immediately.
Staff must:
Not promise confidentiality.
Record concerns accurately.
Report concerns on the same working day where possible.
EDAPT Adventures has a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) responsible for managing safeguarding concerns.

The DSL will:
Respond to safeguarding concerns.
Liaise with relevant authorities where required.
Maintain appropriate records.
Ensure appropriate action is taken.
Where abuse is suspected:
The Designated Safeguarding Lead will assess the situation.
If required, concerns will be referred to:
Local Authority Social Services
Police
Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
All actions will prioritise the safety and wellbeing of the individual.
EDAPT Adventures ensures that:
Staff receive appropriate safeguarding training.
Safeguarding procedures are regularly reviewed.
The Designated Safeguarding Lead receives enhanced training.
All safeguarding records will be:
Kept securely.
Treated as confidential.
Shared only with appropriate agencies when necessary.
All staff and contractors must:
Act professionally at all times.
Maintain appropriate boundaries.
Avoid situations where they are alone with vulnerable individuals where possible.
Never engage in inappropriate physical or emotional behaviour.
This policy will be reviewed annually or sooner if:
Legislation changes.
There are significant organisational changes.
Following any safeguarding incident.
